Mom’s Out of the Office!

Finally, after 12 years, I went on a much needed girls trip with my sisters and friends! I’ve been planning a girls trip since December and couldn’t decide where to go. My top 3 destinations were Sedona, Vegas, and Miami. As much as I wanted to go out of the country, I didn’t feel comfortable being in a different country, while away from the kids. I wanted a destination that was a short plane ride away and I could hop on a flight to go home, just in case. I decided to choose Miami…. it’s like a Caribbean vacation but in the city. Miami has everything we needed: beautiful beach, variety of food cuisine options, and night life. Plus, one of my sisters live in Miami! She was able to help me plan our weekend. So here’s a quick recap of our trip:

Wednesday, February 24th: We took an afternoon flight out of DFW. We got there a little early, which gave us time to eat before our 3-4 hour flight. We ate an early dinner at Cantina Laredo in Terminal D and enjoyed a pre-flight margarita. Now, I wish they would’ve allowed us to order a margarita to go. That would’ve been so clutch! After eating, we boarded our flight and arrived in Miami around 10pm. We didn’t have much planned for our first night except to check into our hotel to get a good night’s sleep before our weekend. Our Uber dropped us off at Hyatt Centric Brickell. There was a plate of fruits/pastries and a bottle of Champagne in each of our rooms. We couldn’t let it go to waste, so we had a mini celebration in our suite before we went to bed. Let me tell you, it felt so good to sleep in that bed, by myself.

Thursday, February 25th: My alarm went off at 6am. Now, I know you’re wondering why we would wake up so early when we’re on vacation WITHOUT kids. We woke up early for Sunrise Yoga! We took the elevator to the rooftop of Hyatt Centric Brickell. Our private yoga instructor from Roya Fit was waiting for us with yoga mats laid out. It was the most relaxing hour. It was so calming and the sunrise was just breathtaking. It was the best way to spend our morning before all of the activities we had planned. After yoga, we had breakfast and coffee at the Caña Restaurant And Lounge. We started our day, at the restaurant for coffee and breakfast, every day! After breakfast, we changed into our swimsuits and went back up to the rooftop for some sun, mojito, and poolside meals. When the server mentioned that they had fried conch, I was drooling already. Turks and Caicos taught me about conch and it’s one of my faves! After a few hours in the sun, we went back to the room to get ready for Happy Hour at American Social in Brickell. FYI, I love how our hotel was centrally located. We returned to the hotel after Happy Hour and my sister hosted a Pure Romance Pajama Party for the girls!

Friday, February 26th: You’d think we’d sleep in huh? But nope! We were so in love with the sunrise and wanted to watch it again. But this time, we enjoyed a cup of coffee while sitting out on the balcony while we watched the sun rise. There’s just something about the sunrise that’s so relaxing! Don’t you agree? It gave us the energy we needed for that day. We spent time at the beach for about 3-4 hours. But once we got back to the hotel, we decided to go straight to the rooftop to eat a late lunch while poolside. For dinner, we had reservations at Mayami Restaurant in Wynwood. Such a fun experience! I’ve never been to a restaurant like Mayami. Fun music, bottle service, flame throwers, fog machines, hookah service, and more! It was such a turned up dinner.

Saturday, February 27th: Nope! We didn’t watch the sunrise this day. We were exhausted from the night before! BUT we had to get ready for a fun day on a 60’ yacht! I’ve never been on a yacht and I was so excited. Everyone warned me about wearing sunscreen… but I was too stubborn and decided to use tanning oil, again. Good thing someone forced me to wear sunblock after a couple of hours! I was so burnt. At least I learned my lesson. Our boat day consisted of fun music, recording TikToks, a photo shoot, and lots of dancing! I don’t think I’ve danced that much in years. It was the best time ever. I was so amazed that there were people on boats, selling food too! It was like the best “social distanced” party I’ve even been to. This was the perfect ending to our girls trip. I couldn’t have asked for anything more.

We flew out of Miami the next day (Sunday, February 28th). It was a bittersweet moment. I didn’t want my vacation to end BUT I was ready to go home to my husband and kids. I was away for 4 nights… and that was a long time for me! I have to admit that my husband did such an amazing job holding the fort down while I was gone. To this day, he mentioned how easy it was for him. The kids do behave better when dad is in charge. For some reason, they are turned up to the max when I’m around. I’m already looking forward to our next girls trip though. However, I don’t think I’ll be up for it until 2022. One girls trip a year is perfect for now.

Have you planned a girls trip with you and your friends? If you haven’t, I highly suggest doing so! If you want to go somewhere fun, I suggest going to Miami! Stay in Brickell area! I wouldn’t suggest South Beach at all. Brickell is more for young professionals and there’s so many things to do in the area. If you want to stay at a hotel, check out the Hyatt Centric Brickell! The staff will make sure your stay is a great one.
