90’s Nostalgia: Oversized Outfits are Backkkk!
Oversized outfits are back and I’m here for it! It brings me back to the 90s when I was just a young child. Honestly, I’m loving how everything from the 90s is making a comeback: oversized outfits, tamagotchi, platform shoes, and etc. Take me back to one of my favorite decades! 🙌🏽
When it comes to kids clothing, oversized clothing isn’t as popular but I found a way to make it work. Sometimes, I buy outfits for Maya that are 1-2 sizes bigger than her normal size for an oversized look. Another bonus: she can wear it even longer! We all know how fast these kids grow. Why not buy bigger sizing for longer use AND it’s the style now! Loungewear and comfy sets are best when they’re oversized too. Here’s a cute tie-dye hoodie/short set that I found at Target.
Super cute huh? But I felt like it needed a personal touch to it, don’t you think? Nothing too big… just something simple. Plus, when you’re in Pre-K, labeling your items is important. 😂 So I used my handy dandy Cricut Maker to make it even better!
As I mentioned in previous blogs, Cricut Infusible Ink is my absolute favorite when it comes to clothing, especially for children. I will use Cricut Infusible Ink on everything that I can! It’s easy super easy to transfer directly onto the clothing. It’s not any different from when you use iron-on vinyl too, except you don’t feel it. The designs are infused onto the material. Cricut recommends using Cricut blanks with Infusible Ink for best results. They have products ranging from shirts, coasters, tote bags, and more. Click here to check it out.
So let’s get started…. Like what I said, I wanted to add just something simple and nothing is more simple than your name. 😋
Unlike iron-on vinyl, you want the design/color side down for Infusible Ink. Also, you need to make sure that the sheet is color side up on the mat for the Cricut Maker. Mirror Image? ABSOLUTELY! I used black Infusible Ink but the sheet looks dark brown… don’t worry! It will transfer to the right color. I was confused at first but trusted that it was going to turn out perfectly.
Now, peeling of the transfer sheet is so satisfying. Probably my most favorite part. Talk about ASMR! (Thinking: I definitely need to do an ASMR video for TikTok soon.
And voila! Here’s the final product. This is in Maya’s lineup for back to school outfits. Perfect huh? I totally think I need one for myself and Marlee now!
