Cook With Me: CrockPot Brisket

Can I let y’all in on a little secret? I use my slow cooker and oven to cook brisket. If you’ve been following me for a while, you may have seen it on my stories. I’ve been cooking it this way for at least 2-3 years. Preparation is quick, cooking it doesn’t take a lot of effort, and it tastes DELISH! Majority of the ingredients you need is already in your pantry too. You only need 5 ingredients: Beef Brisket, Dry Rub, Liquid Smoke, Apple Cider Vinegar, and Olive Oil! I’ve had my fair share of using a few different brands but I prefer to use Emeril’s Rib Rub and Wrights Liquid Smoke. Trust me on this! Now, I would also suggest prepping this at night since it needs 12 hours to cook on low in the slow cooker first. I love waking up to the smell of this brisket. It always puts me in the best mood. Cooking brisket in the slow cooker is the only way I know how since we don’t have a smoker. Maybe, now that we are at the new house, it might be time to invest in one. Either way, I don’t think my recipe will change by much if we cook in the smoker.

Ingredients:

  • 7-8lbs of beef brisket

  • 1 tbsp liquid smoke

  • dry rub

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar

Recipe:

  1. Combine the olive oil, apple cider vinegar, liquid smoke, and bbq rub.

  2. Once everything is mixed, rub it all over a 7-8lb beef brisket.

  3. Next, spray the slow cooker with nonstick spray.

  4. Place the beef brisket in the slow cooker.

  5. Set the slow cooker on low and let cook for 12 hours.

  6. Once done, carefully remove the brisket out of the slow cooker.

  7. Place the brisket in a foil line baked dish.

  8. Turn your oven on broil, then place the brisket in the oven. Let it stay in there long enough until the " bark" ( the rub) darkens.

  9. Once done, remove the brisket out of the oven, and cover it with foil.

  10. Let the brisket rest for 1 hour!

  11. Serve and enjoy!

I’ve also tried this recipe using my oven. Still same ingredients, the only difference is you’re not using your CrockPot.

  1. Pre-Heat the Oven to 300°

  2. Wrap the Brisket in foil and place it in an oven safe dish.

  3. Turn the timer on for 6 hours. The last hour, remove the foil.

  4. Broil to blacken.

I’m so excited for y’all to try this! Let me know how it turns out.
